Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A compound of the formula (R1 is straight or branched chain lower alkyl or substituted phenyl; R2 is H or isopropyl; R3 is straight, branched chain or cyclic alkyl or alkoxyalkyl).
EXAMPLE: 3-Acetylamino-N-isopropylbenzamide.
USE: A medicine having hypoglycemic action.
PROCESS: 3-Nitrobenzoyl chloride is reacted with an amine in the presence of a base, e.g. triethylamine, to give a 3-nitrobenzamide derivative, which is then reduced by the conventional method to afford a 3-aminobenzamide derivative. The resultant 3-aminobenzamide derivative is then acylated with an acylating agent to give the compound of the formula.
