PURPOSE: To surely control the speed of bidirection, by recording and immediately reading out one pulse signal, obtaining a series of pulses through the repetition of said recording with the output again, and clearning with DC the part already read.
CONSTITUTION: A pulse is applied from an input terminal (not shown) to a recording head 2, in a control track 1e at the center of a tape running toward the direction A for recording. After a prescribed time, the pulse is reproduced 3, amplified 4, wave-shaped 5 and returned to the recording head 2 via a recording circuit 6, recorded again to form a series of pulse train. The period of pulse is proportional to the tape speed. A DC erase head 7 is provided at the down- stream of a reproducing head 3 to clear the pulse to prevent crosstalk from a control track to a head 9. A bias head 8 is provided at the upper-stream of the recording head 2 to invert the direction of magnetization of a region N to record signals from the recording head 2. Thus, a series of pulse train P is outputted 10 at forward/reverse to control the tape speed.
