PURPOSE: To enhance utility factors in accumulating and releasing thermal energy and eliminate causes of phase separation, by a method wherein heat-accumulating substances having different latent heats are sealed in multiple shell in such a manner that the substance having a larger latent heat is located on the heat-exchanging side and that the smaller latent heats of the substances are gradually changed with respect to the axis of heat transmission.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of heat-accumulting substances 21W23 which undergo a solid-liquid phase change accompanied by different latent heats q1Wq3 are separately sealed in the multiple shell body formed by spherical shells 24W26 made of a plastic or the like, forming a multiple- shell capsule. The latent heats q1Wq3 of the substances 21W23 are so selected that the latent heat q3 is the largest and q1<q2<q3. The External heat is accumulated into the heat-accumulating substance having the largest latent heat, and is successively accumulated into the substances having smaller latent heats. When releasing heat, the substances undergo solid-liquid phase changes successively, starting from the one on the heat-exchanging side. In this case, heat is supplied from the inside part continuously, and the substance placed on the heat-exchanging surface side has a longer solid-liquid coexistence period because of its large latent heat. Accordingly, the heat accumulated is utilized effectively while preventing the substance on the heat-exchanging side from firstly finishing its heat-releasing process to become a barrier against heat tansmission, hindering the later release of heat.
