PURPOSE: To secure a clear-out picture excellent in resolution, by forming a crossover point of an electron beam just before the opening inlet of electrodes installed opposite to an accelerating electrode, while obtaining the focused electron beam on a phosphor screen surface.
CONSTITUTION: A phosphor layer 14 and an accelerating electrode 15 are installed on the inner surface of a glass container 1, and voltage being somewhat higher than that of the cathode discharging an electron beam is impressed to a first electrode 11 which controls the electron beam. Likewise, such voltage as still higher than that in case of the first electrode 11 is as well impressed to a second electrode 12 and the same electrode structural body is made up at the point midway between these electrodes 11 and 12 in such a way as forming a crossover point 19 of the electron beam. An interval between these electrodes 11 and 12 and the electric potential of both electrodes shall be dependent upon each diameter of holes bored in both electrodes and the interval between the electrode 12 and the accelerating electrode 15 as well as the high voltage impressed to said accelerating electrode. In this way, minute spot diametral electron beam can be scanned on the phosphor surface so that a clear-cut picture excellent in resolution can be secured.
