1536358 Olefine polymerization catalysts PHILLIPS PETROLEUM CO 22 July 1976 [24 July 1975] 30653/76 Heading C3P An olefine polymerization catalyst is formed by mixing together (a) the reaction product of a magnesium or manganese dihalide, a titanium halide and a Lewis base, (b) a trialkyl aluminium or an organoaluminium compound having 2 or more Al atoms joined by an oxygen or nitrogen atom, (c) a Lewis base and (d) a dialkyl aluminium halide the mole ratio of (b) to (c) being 1À5 : 1 to 6 : 1. Examples describe the polymerization of propylene in the presence of hydrogen, AlEt 3 , ethyl anisate or benzoate, AlEt 2 Cl and the product of milling together MgCl 2 , durene, TiCl 4 and ethyl benzoate.
