Abstract:
Pesticide formulations are made of granular urea coatd with a polymer film contg. an active ingredient. The polymer is the reaction product of phenol-formaldehyde resin with a polyisocyanate. Thus, 255.6 g urea fertilizer granules were mixed with 1.8g phenol-formaldehyde resin in 5.7 g CH2Cl2 and small amts. of a pyridine catalyst followed by the addn. of 1.8g arom. polyisocyanate in 5.7 g CH2Cl2, carbofuran (1.2% of the total wt.), and 24.60g kaolin, were added to give upon further processing nematocidal granules, which were tested against Radopholus similis in bananas.
