Abstract:
PURPOSE:To uniformly execute heating and cooling even in case of a quenching member whose thickness of the circumference of the quenching surface is varied remarkably, by heating a material to be quenched, controlling the water head capacity of a water tank filled with a cooling liquid, and the quantity of self- cooling water of an induction heater, in a state that the material to be quenched has been soaked in the water tank. CONSTITUTION:A plunger 15 is lowered and is set to a water level L2. In this state, a high frequency current is made to flow to an induction heater 4 from a high frequency electric power supply 22, and the inside wall surface of a hole D of a material to be quenched W is induction-heated. At the same time, overheating is prevented by jetting a cooling liquid to the outside of a thin part of the material to be quenched W by a cooling liquid jet nozzle 10 of the second cooler. In the course of turn-on, an induction coil in the induction heater 4 is also cooled by cooling water from the third cooler 6, but its quantity of feed is detected by a flow meter 8, and also is controlled by a control valve 9.
