Abstract:
PURPOSE:To reduce the fuel cost of an arc furnace for steel making and to improve the quality of product by ejecting powder coke together with oxygen of the amt. smaller than the theoretical amt. from a nozzle to the inside of the arc furnace, burning the coke and melting the steel while spraying the unburned coke. CONSTITUTION:The powder coke fed forcibly by compressed air through a transport pipe 8 via a fuel passage 2 provided at the center of an assist burner body 1 for accelerating melting provided on the wall of an arc furnace is ejected from a nozzle tip 2' and the high-pressure oxygen fed from an oxygen supply port via an oxygen passage 3 provided around the passage 2 is ejected from plural nozzle tips 3' to burn the above-mentioned coke thereby melting and producing the steel in the furnace. The amt. of the oxygen supplied into the burner 1 in the above-mentioned melting method is made smaller than the theoretical amt., by which the partly unburned powder coke is sprayed onto the molten steel in the furnace and the effect of recarburizing the molten steel and the effect of reducing the oxide are provided.
