Abstract:
PURPOSE:To suppress internal pressure oscillation in a rocket motor in the initial stage of its generation by furnishing a vacant chamber adjacent to the combustion chamber and by putting these chambers in communication through a throat passage. CONSTITUTION:Adjacent to combustion chamber 5 filled with solid thrust powders 3, a vacant chamber 6 is provided which is formed by a diaphragm 4 fixed to the foremost of motor chamber 2, and these chambers 5, 6 are put in communication through a throat passage 7. When an internal pressure is generated in the combustion chamber 5, the vacant chamber 6 makes in-the-air oscillation with the aid of the throat passage 7 and the amplification effect of the combustion chamber 5 is suppressed. Consequently, the peak of pressure variation in the combustion chamber 5 is damped, so that minute pressure variations which might propagate to oscillations of internal pressure can be suppressed to die out.
