Abstract:
PURPOSE:To plate positively only one surface of a steel sheet, by pressing the steel sheet passing over a plating bath by a pressing apparatus down into the plating bath, and at the same time preventing another surface of the steel sheet, where plating is not desired, using barrier plates from being plated. CONSTITUTION:The steel band 1 that has been subjected to a pretreatment such as gas cleaning, flux treatment or the like is allowed to pass over the plating bath 3 of a continuous hot dipping treatment apparatus by a steel band guide roll 2, and a roll of a pressing apparatus 5 positioned over the plating bath 3 presses the upper surface section of the steel band 1 transversely between the roll 2 and a down roll 4 so that said section becomes arcuated and the undersurface of the steel band 1 is forced under a plating bath surface 6 to cause only the undersurface to be plated. The barrier plates 8 are arranged adjacent to edges 7 of the steel band 1 so that the edges 7 are prevented from lowering below the plating bath surface 6, and therefore the other surface where plating is not desired is prevented from being plated.
