Abstract:
The tubular workpiece (3), the orifice edge of which is to be sewn by means of the needle (4) of a sewing machine (1, 2), is stretched on two balls (5). Their horizontal axles (6) are fastened to yokes (7) which are pivotable about vertical axes by means of motors (8). The motors (8) are fastened to holders (9) which are pivotable about horizontal shafts (11) by means of motors (12). The balls (5) have a zone with a higher coefficient of friction in the region of their equator on which the workpiece (3) rests. As a result of the adjustment of the balls by means of the motors (8, 12) in respect of the position of their equatorial zones, the tubular workpiece can be oriented in its direction of movement differently from the sewing direction, in order to align the orifice edge to be sewn with the needle (4).
