Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
1. Process for the manufacture of diazonium salt solutions of primary aromatic amines not containing a water-solubilizing group, by diazotization with the aid of an alkali nitrite and an organic acid of medium strength, characterized by that the solution of a primary aromatic amine not containing a water-solubilizing group and having a melting point of 85 degrees C or below, is diluted in an organic, non-ionogenic polar or non-polar solvent containing a non-ionogenic surfactant, with water which contains the organic acid mentioned below and optionally up to 2 mols of a mineral acid per mol amine, and the diazotization is carried out by means of an organic acid having a pKa -value of from 2.5 to 4.0, in an amount of at least 2.2 mols of said organic acid per mol of primary aromatic amine, and by means of an alkali metal nitrite.
