1509648 Complex compounds MONTEDISON SpA 19 July 1976 [21 July 1975] 29951/76 Addition to 1502567 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions C2 and C3] A complex of formula wherein M is Mg, Mn or Ca; M' is Ti, V or Zr; T is oxygen, a carbonate anion, or a pair of monovalent groups R is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or alkaryl (1-20 C); Y is one or more of halogen, halogen and oxygen, -MR1 2 , -OR1 , -SR1 , (R1 is alkyl, aryl; cycloalkyl or aralkyl group), acetylacetonate, acetylacetonate and oxygen atoms in an amount to satisfy M' valency, n is 0À5 to 20, e.g. MgTiOCl 3 .5 POCl 3 is obtained by reacting hydrogen reduced TiCl 3 with anhydrous ethylacetate, adding magnesium oxide, evaporating and adding the resulting powder to phosphorus oxychloride, evaporating and isolating the light brown powder product, are used as catalyst components for the polymerization of olefines.
