Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS641411
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
A process for producing sodium silicate and apparatus therefor, which enables to easily produce sodium silicate having a silicic acid/alkali molar ratio of 3 or more. A heat source is provided in a reactor, with reaction plates being arranged around said heat source. A silicic acid coated with an alkali-containing material is fed through an inlet at the upper part of the reactor, to effect a reaction by heating, and the reaction product is taken out of the high-temperature zone through an outlet at the lower part of the reactor before the foam-like reaction product does not become vitrified. Thus, sodium silicate with a high molar ration can be produced with less energy.
