Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2008/048016
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a directional sign apparatus for indicating directions using colors. The present invention is intended to allow a person in a large spatial facility, such as an underground passage, or on a street to clearly know the direction in which he/she is entering or exiting without failure, thus allowing the person to easily arrive at his/her destination. In the directional sign apparatuses of the present invention for indicating respective directions, the four cardinal points, i.e. north, east, south, and west, are designated by different specific colors, thus executing a function of allowing a person to confirm the direction of his/her course by viewing the different colors in a manner similar to a compass and allowing the person to easily arrive at his/her destination.

Claims:

[CLAIMS] [Claim 1]

A directional sign apparatus for indicating directions in large spatial facilities, comprising'- a material having a color representing a direction of a north, east, south, or west area in the large spatial facilities. [Claim 2]

The directional sign apparatus for indicating directions in large spatial facilities according to claim 1, wherein the material having the color representing the direction of the north, east, south, or west area in the large spatial facilities is a colored lamp indicating an entrance or an exit.

Description:

[DESCRIPTION] [Invention Title]

Apparatus for guiding direction utilizing colors

[Technical Field]

The present invention relates, in general, to a directional sign apparatus for indicating directions using colors and, more particularly, to a directional sign apparatus for indicating directions by designating the four cardinal points, i.e. north, east, south, and west, using different specific colors, thus executing a function of allowing a person to confirm the direction of his/her course by viewing the different colors in a manner similar to a compass and allowing the person to easily arrive at his/her destination. [Background Art]

Generally, conventional directional sign apparatuses, used for guiding persons to respective entrances or exits or indicating the directions of roads in large spatial facilities, such as underground passages, have the same color and the same shape, but use different numbers and different signs, so that persons may lose their way in such facilities and may be thrown into confusion.

Particularly, the conventional directional sign apparatuses, used in large spatial facilities, such as underground passages, may be an aid to a person when he/she searches for the same numbered exit through which he/she entered the facilities. However, if a person wants to leave the facilities through a different exit than the one through which he/she entered the facilities, he/she may not be guided to the exit by the conventional directional sign apparatuses because the conventional directional sign apparatuses do not show the directions of or the relationship between the locations of the exit and the entrance. [Disclosure] [Technical Problem]

Accordingly, the present invention has been made keeping in mind the

above problems occurring in the related art, and is intended to provide a directional sign apparatus for indicating directions by designating the four cardinal points, i.e. north, east, south, and west, using different specific colors, so that, in large spatial facilities, such as underground passages or large shopping malls, it allows a person, who is not familiar with the facilities, to easily arrive at a desired entrance or exit leading to his/her destination without losing a sense of direction. [Technical Solution]

In an aspect, the present invention provides a directional sign apparatus for indicating directions in large spatial facilities, comprising: a material having a color representing a north, east, south, or west direction in the large spatial facilities.

[Advantageous Effects]

As described above, the directional sign apparatus according to the present invention is advantageous in that it allows a person to easily determine the direction of his/her course without failure and to easily arrive at a desired entrance or exit. [Description of Drawings]

In the present invention, the four cardinal points, i.e. north, east, south and west, are designated by specific different colors, and the north, east, south and west directions, and the entrance or exit sign apparatuses indicating the directions of the north, east, south and west entrances or exits in large spatial facilities are represented by respective colors. For example, the entrance or exit sign apparatuses indicating the direction of an east entrance or exit are represented by green, the entrance or exit sign apparatuses indicating the direction of a west entrance or exit are represented by yellow, the entrance or exit sign apparatuses indicating the direction of a south entrance or exit are represented by blue, and the entrance sign apparatuses indicating the direction of a north entrance or exit are represented by red, thus functioning as a compass allowing first- time visitors of large spatial facilities to easily know the directions of the entrances or exits by viewing the colors.

Hereinbelow, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.

FIG. 1 is a view illustrating conventional directional sign apparatuses. As shown in the drawing, all of the conventional entrance or exit sign apparatuses installed around the exterior entrances or the interior exits of a subway station have the same shape and color, but have different entrance or exit numbers.

FIG. 2 is a view illustrating directional sign apparatuses having

different colors according to the present invention. As shown in the drawing, the exterior and interior directional sign apparatuses of the present invention, which indicate the directions of respective entrances or exits: the north, east, south, and west entrances or exits, based on the center of the underground passage of a subway station, have different colors, thus dividing the area of the subway station into four sections using colors.

FIG. 3 is a view illustrating the layout of an underground passage provided at predetermined locations with the directional sign apparatuses having different colors according to the present invention. As shown in the drawing, an east exterior entrance sign apparatus 6 and an east interior exit sign apparatus 14, both having green backgrounds 7, are installed near the exterior entrance of an east underground stairway 21, which is placed in an east area relative to the center of the intersection of above-ground roads 19 defined by road boundary lines 18, and the interior exit of the east underground stairway 21 from an underground passage 20, respectively.

In the same manner, a west exterior entrance sign apparatus 8 and a west interior exit sign apparatus 15, both having yellow backgrounds 9, are installed near the exterior entrance and the interior exit of a west underground stairway 22, respectively. A south exterior entrance sign apparatus 10 and a south interior exit sign apparatus 16, both having blue backgrounds 11, are installed near the exterior entrance and the interior exit of a south underground stairway 23, respectively. A north exterior entrance sign apparatus 12 and a north interior exit sign apparatus 17, both having red backgrounds 13, are installed near the exterior entrance and the interior exit of a north underground stairway 24, respectively.

The present invention allows persons, entering or leaving facilities through exterior entrances or interior exits, to easily view the colors of the directional sign apparatuses and clearly know the directions designated by the colors, thus preventing the persons from making mistakes by misinterpreting the colors designating the directions of their courses when looking for the entrances or exits leading to their destinations and

preventing them from losing the directions of their courses. [Industrial Applicability]

As described above, when the directional sign apparatus according to the present invention is used with entrance or exit signs in large spatial facilities, such as underground passages, or with directional sign boards installed along roads, a person can easily distinguish the directions represented by directional sign apparatuses having different colors, thus easily arriving at his/her destination.
