Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I.
USE: A raw material of polyimide resin. The polyimide resin produced from the monomer has excellent thermal stability and is formable by molding and soluble in solvent.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by (1) condensing 1-(4-hyroxyphenyl)-1,3,3-trimethyl-6-hydroxyindane of formula II with m- dinitrobenzene in an aprotic polar solvent (e.g. N,N-dimethyl formamide) in the presence of a base (e.g. potassium carbonate) at 80W220°C and (2) reducing the resultant compound of formula III e.g. by catalytic reduction, reduction with hydrazine, etc.
