NEW MATERIAL:A 1-alkyl-2-(2-benzoylethyl) substituted piperidine derivative expressed by formula I (R1 is lower alkyl; R2 is Cl or Br present in the 2-, 3- or 4-position of the benzene) and an acid addition salt thereof.
EXAMPLE: 1-Methyl-2-[2-(4-chlorobenzoyl)ethyl]piperidine.
USE: A remedy for painful muscular contracture caused by diseases in locomotorium, having improved muscular relaxing, spinal reflex inhibitory and anticonvulsant action, and effective for lumbago and notalgia, herniated disk, spondylitis deformans, etc.
PROCESS: A 1-alkyl-2-(2-cyanoethyl) substituted piperidine derivative expressed by formula II is reacted with an arylmagnesium halide expressed by formula III(X is halogen) to give the aimed compound expressed by formula I .
