Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:1-Alkyl-2-oxo-2H-1,8-naphthyridine derivative shown by the formula I (R1 is lower alkyl; R2WR6 are H, lower alkyl, or phenyl; with the proviso that at least one of R2WR6 is phenyl or lower alkyl).
EXAMPLE: 2-Oxo-4-phenyl-1,5,7-trimethyl-2H-1,8-naphthyridine.
USE: Diuretics.
PROCESS: A pyridone derivative shown by the formula II is reacted with a compound shown by the formula III in phosphoric acid under heating to give a compound shown by the formula I. 2-Oxo-2H-1,8-naphthyridine derivative shown by the formula IV is reacted with the compound shown by the formula R1-X (X is halogen) in a solvent, e.g., methanol, at room temperature or under heating to give the compound shown by the formula I.
