Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of enhancement of the 1-deoxy-D-xylulose 5-phosphate synthase (DXS) activity of plants or bacteria to increase production of terpenes in cells.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a DXS enzyme with an enhanced activity in which some amino acids of a specific DXS sequence are modified, a method of enhancement of production of terpenes in a host cell containing the enhanced DXS enzyme, and transgenic bacterium or plants that express this polypeptide.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
