Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound useful as an intermediate for synthesis of medicines, agrochemicals, etc., especially a pyrimidine ether derivative-based herbicide.
CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I [R is H, an alkaline metal, ammonium or an organoammonium; (n) is 0, 1 or 2], e.g. sodium 1-fluoro-2- oxocyclohexanecarboxylate. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting an alkyl 1-fluoro-2-oxocycloalkanecarboxylate of formula II (R2 is a lower alkyl) with an alkaline metal hydroxide of the formula R3OH (R3 is an alkaline metal) in a solvent (e.g. THF) at -20°C to the boiling point of the solvent. The compound of formula I can be obtained at low cost by a ready method.
