Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:Compounds of formula I (M is H, Na K or ammonium group)

USE: Oxidation-reaction reagent for wet type desulfurization process (especially for Stredford process). They are used as various kinds of intermediates.

PREPARATION: The objective compound of formula I is obtained by the reaction between (a) 1,2-benzanthraquinone and fumic sulfuric acid, or sulfur trioxide or chlorosulfonic acid under heating or (b) 2-(α-naphthoyl)benzoic acid or a mixture thereof with 2-(β-naphthoyl)benzoic acid and a sulfonation agent and a dehydration condensation agnet under heating. Fumic sulfuric acid or sulfure trioxide can advantageously have both functions, i. e. as dehydration condensation agent and sulfonation agent
