To obtain the subject new compound useful as agrochemicals for controlling damages to agricultural or horticultural crops by diseases.
This compound is shown by formula I [R1 is H, a 1-8C alkyl or the like; A is shown by formula (R2 and R3 are each H, a halogen or the like; and (m) is an integer of 0-4) or the like; and B is a 5- to 6-membered heterocycling ring comprising 1 to 3 heteroatoms selected from the group consisting of a cyano, O, N and S, or like], e.g. 4-methyl-1,2,3-thiadiazole-5- carbaldehyde. The compound shown by formula I is obtained by, e.g. oxidizing, in the presence of oxidizing agent, the product from the reduction of a compound shown by formula III (R11 is a 1-8C alkyl) in the presence of a reducing agent, with or without isolating the product prior to the oxidation. This compound shows a very high controlling effect against crop diseases, including bacterial diseases, e.g. rice blast, wheat powdery mildew, grape downy mildew and cabbage slimy soft rot, and viral diseases, e.g. tobacco mosaic.
