Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A 1,2,4-triazine derivative of formula I (Ph is phenyl substituted with halogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, nitro, carboxyl, etc.).
EXAMPLE: 6-(2-Chlorophenyl)-3-(2-pyridyl)-1,2,4-triazin-5(4H)-one.
USE: Fungicide having strong activity against true fungi.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I is prepared by cyclizing a Schiff base of formula IV obtained by the condensation of a ketocarboxylic acid derivative of formula II (R is lower alkyl) with 2-pyridylhydrazine of formula III. The reaction solvent is e.g. methanol, THF, etc.
