NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R2 is lower alkyl or lower cycloalkyl; R2 is H, lower alkyl or NH2; R3 is lower alkylmercapto, lower alkoxy, lower alkylamino, lower dialkylamino, pyrrolidinyl, or piperidino).
EXAMPLE: 2-Isopropyl-4-methyl-5-ethylamino-1,2,4,6-thiatriazin-3-one-1-oxide.
USE: Herbicide.
PROCESS: The objective compound of formula VWVI can be prepared by (1) reacting the compound of formula II (R4 is lower alkyl) with thionyl chloride to obtain the compound of formula III, (2) reacting the compound with the compound of formula R2'X [R2' is lower alkyl (X is halogen) or NH2 (X is OSO2, etc.)] in the presence of a base, and (3) reacting the resultant compound of formula IV with the compound of formula R3'H or R5OH (R3' is R3 excluding R4S and R5O; R5 is lower alkyl) in the presence of a base.
