PURPOSE: To obtain the subject new compound useful as preventive and therapeutic agents for hepatopathy.
CONSTITUTION: A compound, e.g. 5-isopropoxy-1,3-benzodioxole-2-thione expressed by formula I [X is O, S or SO2; R is H, lower alkyl, (substituted) aryl, etc.; R1 is H, lower alkyl, (substituted) aryl, etc.; R2 to R4 are H, halogen, nitro, lower alkyl, etc.; m is 0-3, provided that R1 is not H, when X is O; m is O and R2 to R4 are H; the lower alkyl is not methyl, when R1 is lower alkyl at the 4-position]. The compound expressed by formula I is obtained by reacting 1,2-dihydroxybenzene expressed by formula II with thiophosgene expressed by the formula CSCl2 in a mixture solution of an organic solvent such as chloroform and water containing sodium hydroxide, etc.
