4-Aryl-1,4-dihydropyridine -3- and/or 5-carboxylate ester derivs. (I) in which at least one ester gp. is substd. by a beta-blocker gp. are new, provided that (I) are not of formula (II) either Y=NO2; R'=2-hydroxy-2-phenylethyl or 2-hydroxy-3-phenoxypropyl; R''=1-10C alkyl; A=1-10C alkylene opt. interrupted by O; or Y=H, NO2 or CF3; R'=2-hydroxy-3-phenoxypropyl (opt. ring-substd. by halogen, lower alkyl, allyl, lower alkoxyalkyl, allyloxy, CN or ethynyl) or 2-hydroxy-3-indolyloxypropyl; R''=lower alkyl; A=CH2CH2, CH2CHMe or CH2CMe2.
