NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I or II (R is H or Ac).

USE: Useful for synthesizing lactose derivatives such as N-acetyllactosamine.

PREPARATION: 1,6-Anhydrolactose and 1,1-dimethoxycyclohexane in a molar amount of 2-9 times based on the 1,6-anhydrolactose are heated in the presence of an acid catalyst in DMF at 40-70°C under a reduced pressure of 10-100mmHg for 0.5-10hr and the resultant reaction mixture is then acetylated with pyridine and acetic anhydride.
