Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain new compounds useful as intermediates for synthesis of 12-hydroxyvitamin D compound.
CONSTITUTION: These are new compounds represented by formula I (each of R1 and R2 is H or a hydroxy-protecting group; R is a side chain represented by formula II (each of R3 and R4 is H or (protected) hydroxy; R5 is H, an alkyl or the like, each of R6 and R7 is H, (protected) hydroxy or carbon-carbon double bond at 22-23 position). For example, the compound represented by formula I is prepared by allowing a compound represented by formula III as a starting material to react in an organic solvent at 0-50°C in the presence of osmium tetroxide.
