NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R1 is phenyl having substitutent group (halogen, lower alkyl, tert-amino or lower alkoxy); R2 is phenyl haing substituent group (halogen or NO2); a and b are a bond existing in eithevside.
EXAMPLE: 2-(4-Chlorobenzoyl)-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-quadricyclane.
USE: A photo-energy accumulator capable of accumulating solar light energy by absorbing the solar light of the principal wavelength zone, and releasing the accumulated energy as heat energy by the aid of a catalyst, etc.
PROCESS: The compound of formula I a can be prepared by the Diels-Alder reaction of the compound of formula IV with the compound of formula V. The compound of formula I a changes to the compound of formula I having the the bond (b) by the absorption of solar light, and returns quantitatively to the compound of fomrula I a releasing the thermal energy by the addition of silica gel, etc. in acetonitrile.
