Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a new compd. having fast-acting and useful as highly effective intravenous an a esthetic.

CONSTITUTION: The new compd. is (2β,3α,5α)-21-chloro-3-hydroxy-2(4-morphorinyl) pregnane-20-one of the formula. The compd. is obtained, for example, after heating (2β,3α,5α)-3-hydroxy-2-(4-morphorinyl) pregnane-20-one in the presence of ethanolamine and toluene to obtain (2β,3α,5α)-20-[2-(hydro-xyethyl)imino]-2-(4- morphorinyl)pregnane-3-ol, by adding N-chlorosuccinimide to the soln. of the imino deriv., and adding hydrochloric acid to react.
