Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a 2,2-disubstituted glycerol and a glycerol analogue very useful for antiallergic agents and antiinflammatory agents.
CONSTITUTION: There is provided a compound of formula I (wherein B is trimethyl amine or a heterocyclic ring containing 1-3 nitrogen atoms which may be substituted with an alkyl) or a pharmaceutically suitable salt or a solvated compound thereof, e.g. 1-hexadecyloxy-2-methoxy-2-methyl-3-[[[2-(2- methylimidazol-1-yl)ethoxy]carbonyl]oxy]propane of formula II. The compound is obtained by reacting a compound of formula III (wherein L1 is SO2CH3, Br, I or Cl) with a compound of formula B (wherein B is as defined above with a proviso that it is a free compound without a valence arm). The compound has antagonistic activities against a platelet activating factor(PAF) and is useful for the treatment of diseases and disorders caused by the PAF.
