NEW MATERIAL:2,3-Dihydro-2-diazo-3-oxobenzoic acid and its ester or their salts.
USE: A mildewcidal agent, a remedy for hog dysentery and anti-bacterial agent. Useful also as synthetic intermediate thereof.
PREPARATION: The titled compound is produced by culturing Streptomyces C-66464 strain (FERM-P 8521) capable of producing 2,3-dihydro-2-diazo-3- oxobenzoic acid (TAN-665A) in a liquid medium at 24W30°C for 48W114hr, adsorbing the filtrate of culture liquid with an anion exchange resin, etc., eluting with an aqueous solution containing salt or acid and purifying the eluted product. TAN-665A has the following properties. Appearance, yellow crystal; melting point, discoloration and decomposition gradually take place at about 155°C; elemental analysis (measured values)C 50.7, H 2.5, N 16.8(%); molecular formula, C7H4N2O3; color reactions, positive to Barton reaction and potassium permanganate reaction, negative to ninhydrin reaction and Greig-Leaback reaction.
