NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (A is -CH2NH- or CH=N-; R is alkyl or cycloalkyl).
EXAMPLE: 2,3-Methylenedioxy-N-(n)-propylbenzylideneamine.
USE: A vermin repellent. Especially, attack of mosquito and gnat can be avoided by applying the compound to the skin of man and domestic animal.
PREPARATION: For example, 2,3-methylenedioxybenzaldehyde of formula II is made to react with an amino compound of formula H2N-R optionally in a solvent such as benzene preferably at 50W100°C for 0.5W3hr to obtain the compound of formula III. If necessary, the product is reduced by introducing hydrogen gas in a solvent such as ethanol in the presence of a reducing catalyst (e.g. palladium carbon) and treating preferably at 0W40°C for 0.5W5hr to obtain the compound of formula IV.
