Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by the formula I (R is 2W26C alkyl).
EXAMPLE: 2,3,2'3'-Tetra-O-octyl-α,α-trehalose.
USE: A carcinostatic substance or a surface active agent.
PREPARATION: For example, 4,6:4',6'-di-O-benzylidene-α,α-trehalose shown by the formula II (Ph is phenyl) is treated with an alkylating agent such as octyl bromide, etc., in the presence of an alkali to give a 2,3,2'3'-tetera-O-alkyl-4,6:4',6'- di-O-benzylidene-α,α-trehalose shown by the formula III. Then, this compound is hydrolyzed in the presence of palladium black, etc., to give a compound shown by the formula I.
