Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the subject novel compounds useful as antiviral agents or the like.

CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I (wherein R1 represents a group of formula II or the like; R6 and R7 are each H, -PO3H2 or the like), for example (1α,3β,4α)-2-amino-1,9-dihydro-9-[3-hydroxy-4-(hydroxymethyl)-2-methylene- cyclopentyl]-6H-purine-6-one, is obtained by deprotecting a compound of formula IV obtained from a compound of formula III as a starting material.
