Abstract:
3-Methylene-4-androsten-17-ones of the general formula I in which Ra is a hydrogen atom or a saturated or unsaturated, straight-chain or branched, optionally substituted alkyl radical with 1 - 6 carbon atoms, where Ra is in the alpha or beta position, and Rb is a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl or an -S(O)n- group, in which Rc is a hydrogen atom or an alkyl or acyl group with 1 - 4 carbon atoms, n = 0, 1 or 2, and X is CH2, CHF, CHCl or CHBr, X not being CH2 when Ra is hydrogen and Rb is hydroxyl or Ra and Rb are each hydrogen, are suitable for controlling fertility and for treating disorders caused by oestrogens.
