Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A steroid of formula I (X is hydroxyl; Y is H: or X and Y forms oxo; R' is H, acyl, silyl, alkoxycarbonyl, benzyl or incorporate each other to form alkylidene or carbonyl; configurations in 22-, 23-positions are 22R, 23R or 22S, 23S; R", R''' are H, lower alkyl).
EXAMPLE: (22R,23R,24S-3α,5-Cyclo-22,23-diacetoxy-24-methyl-5α-cholesta-6-one.
USE: An intermediate useful in the industrial production of brassinolides.
PREPARATION: For example, in accordance with reaction equations, the compound of XIII is mesilated in MEK to give the compound of XIV, which is treated with a base such as potassium bicarbonate in aqueous MEK to give the compound of formula I-a.
