Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a new compound, having excellent inhibiting action on a testosterone 5α-reductase and useful for prostatic hypertrophy.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula I [R1 is H or (substituted)1-6 C alkyl; R2 is (substituted)alkyl or aryl group; R3 is H or 1-6C alkyl; the bond containing the dotted line is single bond or double bond] and its pharmacologically permissible salt and ester, e.g. N-diphenylmethyl-3-oxo-4-aza-B- nor-5α-androstane-17 β-carboxamide. This compound of formula I is obtained by reacting, e.g. a compound of formula II with hydrazine in an inert solvent at about ambient temperature, providing an amino acid hydrazide, then reacting the resultant compound with a nitrous acid compound at -50 to 0°C for 5min to 1hr and subsequently treating the obtained compound with an amine compound of formula III at -10 to +10°C for 10hr to 5 days.
