NEW MATERIAL: A compd. represented by formula I [wherein A is OR4 (wherein R4 is H, 1-18C alkyl or 2-12C alkenyl), NR5R6 (wherein R5 and R6 are H, 1-18C alkyl, 2-12C alkenyl, alkynyl or 1-10C alkoxy) or OM (wherein M is a cation such as Li, Na or K and equivalent of Zn, Mn, Ca or Ba), B is H or a type M cation and R1-R3 are H, halogen, OH, cyano or 1-6C alkyl].
EXAMPLE: Ethyl 4-benzoyl-3-hydroxy-5-oxo-3-cyclohexenecarboxylate.
USE: Plant growth regulants used for a cultured plant and showing effect in germination pretreatment and post-treatment and the application amt. thereof is 0.001-5 kg/ha at every adaptation purpose.
PROCESS: For example, a compd. represented by formula II is subjected to transition reaction accelerated by a catalyst within an inert solvent in the presence of a Lewis acid catalyst to obtain the compd. represented by the formula I.
