Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A 4-halo-2-hexenoic acid amide of formulaI(X is Cl or Br; R is H, alkyl, alkenyl or cycloalkyl; Y is halogen, cyano or nitro; n is 0.1 or 2).
EXAMPLE: 4-Bromo-N-iso-butyl-N-(4-chlorobenzyl)-2-hexenoic acid amide.
USE: A herbicide, having improved herbicidal effect on weeds, and very safe for crops.
PROCESS: A 4-halo-2-hexenoyl halide of formula II (X1 is halogen) is reacted with an amine of formula III in an inert solvent, e.g. dichloromethane, in the presence of an acid binder, e.g. NaOH, to give the aimed compound of formulaI. The reaction is carried out at -20W+100°C for 0.5W30hr.
