NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I [R1 is pyridyl having 1W4 substituent group, which is OH, halogen, NH2, carboxyl, carbamoyl, alkyl, (substituted)phenylcarbamoyl, alkenyl, tetrahydrofuranyl, etc.; A is arylene; R2 is 5-fluorouracil derivative residue capable of converting to 5-fluorouracil in vivo and bond with the adjacent carbonyl group is ester bond or amide bond].

EXAMPLE: 5-Fluoro-3-[3-(4-pentanoyloxy-2-pyridyloxycarbonyl)benzoyl]-1-(2-tetra hydrofuranyl)uracil.

USE: An antitumor agent.

PREPARATION: A compound expressed by the formula R2H is reacted with a compound expressed by formula II (X is halogen) to afford a compound expressed by formula III, which is then reacted with a compound expressed by the formula R1-O-R9 (R9 is H or trialkylsilyl) to provide the compound expressed by formula I.
