NEW MATERIAL:6-Sulfaminopenicillanic acid of formula or its salt.
USE: Antibacterial agent. It has β-lactamase-inhibitive action, and useful in the field of drug and animal drug.
PROCESS: The 6-sulfaminopenicillanic acid of formula and its salt (pref. disodium salt, dipotassium salt, etc.) can be prepared by the cultivation of fungi belonging to Aspergillus genus and capable of producing 6-sulfaminopenicillanic acid (e.g. Aspergillus candidus No.3705, FERM-P No.5823). The cultivation is pref. carried out usually by submerged technique using a liquid medium. The productivity of the compound of formula can be improved by the conventional mutogenic treatment of the fungi capable of producing the compound of formula, e.g. irradiation with X-ray, ultra-violet ray, etc.
