NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R1 and R2 are H or 1W3C lower alkyl; R3 is substituted vinyl, thiazolyl, or substituted carbamoyl of formula CONH-R4 (R4 is pyridyl, quinolyl, amino, ureido or oxamoylamino); the wavy line is anti or syn bond].
EXAMPLE: (Z)-7{α-(2-Amino-4-thiazolyl)-α-[(4-hydroxy-3-pyridylcarbamoyl)-methoxyimino ]acetamido }-3-[( 1-methyl-5-tetrazolyl )thiomethyl-3-caphem-4-carboxylic acid].
USE: Antibacterial agent effective to Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
PROCESS: The objective compound is prepared e.g. by reacting the iminothiazole- acetic acid derivative of formula II (R4 is protected amino) with the 7-amino- cephalosporanic acid derivative of formula III (R5 is H or carboxy-protecting group), and eliminating the protecting group of the reaction product.
