PURPOSE: To provide a new compd. showing strong antibacterial activity, especially against Gram-positive bacteria and useful as an antibacterial agent and an additive for feed.
CONSTITUTION: This compd. is expressed by formula I, wherein X1 is a halogen; X2 is H, NH2, a 1 to 4C alkylamino, etc.; R1 is a 1 to 4C alkyl, 3 to 6C cycloalkyl, etc.; R2 is H, a 1 to 4C alkyl, etc.; A is N, C-R7 (R7 is H, a halogen, hydroxyl, etc.); Z is formula II (R4 is H, hydroxyl, etc.). The compd. is, for example, 1-cyclopropyl-7-(5,7-dihydro-6H-pyrrolo[3,4-b]pyridin-6-yl)-6,8-difluoro-1,4- dihydro-4-oxo-3-quinolinecarboxylic acid.HCl. The compd. of formula I is obtd. by the reaction of a compd. expressed by formula III (X3 is a halogen) and a compd. expressed by Z-H in the presence of an acid removing agent (e.g. 1,4-diazabicyclo[2,2,2]octane) in a solvent (e.g. acetonitrile-DMF) at 20 to 200°C.
