EXAMPLE: dl-7,8-Dehydro-PGE1 (THP compound) methyl ester.
USE: Antiulcer agent. It has various prostaglandin-like activities, and is useful also as the synthetic intermediate of prostaglandin.
PROCESS: The compound of formulaIcan be prepared by reacting the 7-hydroxy- PG of formula II (R31 and R41 are OH-protecting group) with methanesulfonyl chloride in the presence of a base, and if necessary, subjecting the product to the elimination of the protective group, hydrolysis, or reduction of the 9-position carbonyl group.
