Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM communication system by which communication is achieved between ATM networks without deteriorating high velocity, large capacity and connection oriented property. SOLUTION: The system is provided with a number of connectionless service (CLSF) processing means for performing connectionless datagram transfer in a plurality of networks. Each CLSF processing means includes a destination side CLSF processing means for performing datagram transfer to a destination side network. ATM connection without band control is used for the ATM connection to be connected to the destination side CLSF processing means and a connection identifier for identifying the ATM connection is obtained. Then datagram is transmitted from a transmission source terminal to the destination side CLSF processing means through the ATM connection identified by the obtained connection identifier so that connectionless datagram transfer from the transmission source terminal to the destination terminal is performed.
