To identify overheat of an insulating material from other possible causes by measuring the infrared absorption spectrum of components included in a cooling medium, in an abnormal overheat diagnosis for power apparatus inside having an insulating layer containing epoxy resin.
A sampling tube 4 is installed between a high-pressure portion 2 and a low-pressure part 3 of a flow passage of gas used for cooling a generator 1, a substrate 6 where metal is deposited is mounted, and an infrared absorption spectrum is measured by a reflection method after particulates absorbed onto the substrate are passed through an infrared light transmission window 5. The spectrum is measured by the reflection method after the component generated when the insulating material is overheated is captured on a silicon substrate where aluminum is deposited. It is thus possible to identify overheat of the insulating material from those of other materials.
