To provide an apparatus for diagnosing an abnormal part, which identifies any abnormal part of a feedback control system.
The apparatus for diagnosing abnormal parts is applied to a fuel supply system (feedback control system) having a pump device (actuator) for supplying fuel to a fuel injection valve, and a feedback control means for performing feedback control of the pump device so that the value detected by a fuel pressure sensor attains a desired value or an expected value for control. The diagnostic apparatus includes a system abnormality determining means S30 which determines that there is a system abnormality at the feedback control system if the follow-up property of actual fuel pressure with respect to the desired fuel pressure is abnormal; an open control means S31 which stops the feedback control and performs open control of actuation of the pump device if it is determined that there is a system abnormality; and abnormal part identifying means S34, S35, S37 which diagnose the fuel pressure sensor as being abnormal if an engine can be started while the open control is performed and which diagnose the pump device as being abnormal if the engine cannot be started.
