To provide an abnormality detection device for a passenger conveyor, in which there is no possibility that a detachment part of a pallet appears outside from an entrance even when the movement of the pallet is stopped after the detection part detects the detachment, that can detect malfunction of the conveyor even when the detection part malfunctions to always detect a pallet regardless of presence/absence of the pallet.
An abnormality detection device for a passenger conveyor includes: an endless chain 3 hung between pair of sprockets 9 and 10 that circularly move between an entrance 7 and an exit 8; a plurality of pallets 2 coupled with the chain 3; and a pallet detection part 30 for detecting the presence/absence of the pallet 2 by detecting a reverse surface 2b of the pallet 2 that moves from the exit 8 to the entrance 7.
