To provide an overhead wire abnormality monitoring system capable of directly and surely detecting different abnormalities, such as a disconnection and a fluctuation of an overhead wire without performing erroneous detection by using an angle sensor.
The abnormality monitoring system for an overhead wire of this invention includes an angle sensor attached to an anchoring part in a supporter of an overhead wire, and an abnormality monitoring device for receiving an angle signal from the angle sensor. The abnormality monitoring device has a timer, a tilt angle comparison determination part, a fluctuation frequency comparison determination part and an abnormality outputting part, performs comparison determination of the magnitudes between an angle signal and a tilt angle set in advance, and is configured so as to output an abnormality signal in the case that a state having a large angle signal continues for a predetermined time and that a change in the angle signal is periodically repeated. A first tilt angle and a second tilt angle are previously set in the tilt angle comparison determination part, and a repeating frequency is previously set in the fluctuation frequency comparison determination part.
